Smart Values are underpinned by our Manaiakalani Kaupapa and supported by our Kawa of Care in each of our cybersmart categories.
The values below were identified by Manaiakalani Schools to reflect what we believe it means to be Cybersmart.
The specific way in which Smart Values are lived and learned will be guided by the values of our individual schools and their community.
Learning | Ako: The act of acquiring new, or modifying and reinforcing, existing knowledge, behaviours, skills, values
Hope | Tūmanakotanga: Our aspirations and expectations of the future
Service | Kaitiakitanga : The act of helping, showing kindness and community
Co-operation | Kotahitanga: Collaborating with others, being part of a community, sharing common goals and interactions
Honesty | Ngākau Pono: Showing integrity, being truthful and acting with morals
Respect | Whakakaute: To act in a way that shows consideration for oneself and the rights of others
Responsibility | Haepapa: Being accountable for our actions
Caring | Manaakitanga: To feel, think, and act in the interest of others and ourselves
Joy | Manahau: Finding happiness, having a sense of wellbeing
